Grant awarded to Skill: National Bureau for Students with Disabilities

Skill: National Bureau for Students with Disabilities is absolutely delighted to have been awarded a grant for £50, 000 by the Tubney Charitable Trust. The grant is especially valuable to Skill because it can be used to cover core funding costs.

Like many other charities, Skill often finds it extremely difficult to raise funds to underpin strategic costs, or to cover essential items such as updating information booklets for disabled students. Funders are often looking for new initiatives to support. But Skill also needs the finance to continue providing the vital services it already offers to disabled students.

Barbara Waters, Skill's Chief Executive, said, "The grant could not have come at a better time for Skill. Skill is currently preparing for the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act Part 4: Education from September 2002. The new law will introduce the first legal rights for disabled people in education. It is important that Skill works hard to raise awareness of the new law."
